Universities Australia marks Horizon Europe treaty completion as "major win" for research (9 June). Australia has finalised treaty negotiations for its association with Horizon Europe, the EU's flagship €95.5bn research and innovation programme. Universities Australia CEO Luke Sheehy: "This is a major win for Australian research, innovation and economic growth," adding that participation extends to researchers across all Australian universities — not only the research intensives — and covers clean energy, critical minerals, advanced manufacturing, health, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence. Sheehy called for government investment to "strengthen rather than drain the research system." (UA, 9 June)
